People share posts that make them feel something, and that say something about who they are. This scorecard helps you test a post before you publish it. Part one rates the emotional response your content creates. Part two is a checklist of the social reasons people share.

Part 1: The shareability scorecard

Rate how strongly your post triggers each of the 12 emotions below, on a scale of 1 to 10. The scorecard gives a word for points 4, 7 and 10 on each scale, so you can judge the intensity. Write your score for each emotion.

How to read your score

Try to keep your content above 7. Anything above 7 is good. Great job! Anything below 7, fix it.

You don't need every emotion to score high. A strong post usually hits one or two of them hard, rather than all of them a little.

Part 2: The social incentive checklist

Sharing is personal. Before you post, tick each reason that applies. The more boxes your content ticks, the more reasons your audience has to pass it on.
