← See all case studies SHEIN 8.8 Campaign 2021

The Brief

For its 8.8 sale, SHEIN wanted more than awareness — it needed content that turned browsing into buying, driving direct, trackable action during the sale window. As a fast‑fashion e‑commerce brand with an enormous catalogue, the real job was making it effortless for someone to see an outfit they liked and actually order it.

The Approach

SushiVid built the campaign around a shoppable, magazine‑catalog concept. Twelve KOLs — a combined following of 1.5 million, chosen because their audiences were already active online shoppers — styled and modelled different SHEIN outfits in Instagram carousel posts, like flipping through a fashion catalog. Crucially, each look came with the product ID (SKU) in the caption, so anyone who liked an outfit could find and order that exact item on SHEIN in seconds. A 15% promo code added the sale‑moment incentive.

The Execution

The carousel‑as‑catalog format did two things at once: it looked aspirational — outfit after outfit, styled to inspire — and it functioned as a shopping list, with SKUs on hand to buy. That made the content unusually save‑worthy, and saving is exactly what people did. Rather than buying on impulse, audiences bookmarked the posts to shop the looks later, treating the content as a personal wishlist for the 8.8 sale.

The Results

The campaign generated 4,000 link clicks directly attributable to the promo‑code push, giving SHEIN a clear, trackable return on the 8.8 activity. But the standout signal was saves: the sheer number of people saving the carousels to buy later was the most telling measure of intent — proof the content wasn't just seen, it was earmarked for purchase.

The Takeaway

Saves are an underrated purchase‑intent metric. When content is genuinely useful to shop from — a catalog of looks with the SKUs attached — people save it to come back and buy, often a stronger signal than a like or even a click. The lesson from SHEIN: design shoppable content people want to keep, make ordering frictionless by putting the SKU right there, and read saves as the quiet indicator that a sale is coming.
