The Brief
Double‑digit sale days — 8.8, 9.9, 11.11 — are their own discipline. They're immediate, high‑intensity moments that live and die over two or three days, not evergreen campaigns. This brand, new to TikTok Shop, needed to move from a low, inconsistent order volume to a shop that could both run day to day and genuinely capitalise on a mega‑sale like 8.8 — and to do it on TikTok, a platform that is content‑first, not commerce‑first.
The Approach
SushiVid took on full TikTok Shop management, drawing on a track record built across Malaysia's marketplaces — nine years running campaigns on Lazada, five on Shopee, and the last four on TikTok, much of it around exactly these double‑digit sale days. One insight shaped everything: because an 8.8 sale is a burst, not a slow build, the plan was to steadily grow baseline order volume first, then concentrate firepower into the sale window itself with creators chosen for high, immediate reach rather than long‑term engagement.
The Execution
Day to day, the work spanned shop and listing optimisation plus affiliate and livestream coordination to build consistent orders. For 8.8 itself, the content was deliberately simple and catchy — a creator showing something they'd ordered with a quick, timely “buy it now, it's 8.8” hook — because in a crowded sale window, content has to stand out fast and convert immediately. Creators were selected for their reach at that moment, and activity was concentrated around the two‑to‑three‑day peak when it counts.
The Results
Monthly orders grew from 241 to 1,690 within two months — a sevenfold jump — then doubled again during the 8.8 sale, alongside 288.8K reach and over 9,064 views on shop‑linked content. The shop went from inconsistent to genuinely sale‑ready, able to turn a marketplace mega‑event into a real order spike rather than watching it pass by.
The Takeaway
TikTok Shop is not Shopee or Lazada. It's content‑first, not commerce‑first — so selling on it means leading with content, not catalogue. And sale‑day success runs on a different clock from evergreen marketing: it rewards burst reach and standout, timely content over slow‑built engagement. For any brand moving onto TikTok Shop, the lesson is to plan for the platform's DNA — content first, timed hard to the moment — rather than porting an e‑commerce playbook across.
